Success in Maths!!
The UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT) is a registered charity whose aim is to advance the education of children and young people in mathematics. The UKMT organises national mathematics competitions and other mathematical enrichment activities for 11-18 year oldUKschool pupils. It was established in 1996 and last academic year over 600,000 pupils from 4000 schools took part in the three individual challenges, theUK's biggest national maths competitions. The three challenges are as follows:
Senior challenge, for students in S12 & S13, held in November.
Intermediate Challenge for students in S9 –S11, held in February
Junior Challenge for students in S7 & S8, held in April.
49 students across years 9 to 11 have recently taken part in the Intermediate challenge; I was delighted by the number of students that wanted to take part, but even more so by the results.
The following students have gained recognition by achieving gold, silver or bronze and will be awarded certificates at the end of term assembly
- Joseph Moore (S11) – Gold
- Elisabeth Stroud (S11) – silver
- Amy Moore (S11) – silver
- Dina Costello (S11) - silver
- Tom Haddock (S9) – silver
- Rosie Masterman (S9) - Bronze
- Ray Bell (S10) – Bronze
- Charles Wright (S10) – Bronze
- Joshua Concannon (S10) – Bronze
This is a huge improvement on last year’s results, so well done. And well done to all those who took part!
