Quinton's First Equestrian Show !
Ski Trip Success
A group of 40 students jetted off to the USA to ski on the mountain known as the ‘Beast of the East’. It was a long first day of planes and coaches and bedtime was very welcome!
The first day we headed over to Killington to get fitted for boots and skis and got our first taste of the mountain. The students were split into groups depending on their abilities and all got to experience differing levels of difficulty that first day. Some of the expert group thought things were a bit slow for them!
The weather varied throughout the week, we started with glorious sunshine and melting snow and then got hit by the winds and snow, followed by sunshine again. When the winds hit it was very cold and some of the students struggled with this side of things. Plus some were not too interested in the powder snow instead preferring the fast icy conditions.
However, by the end of an exhausting week all of the students were confident skiers and some had experienced slopes they never dreamt of, whilst others had improved their techniques, all of the students had had a great time, been challenged, (even the experts!). The après-ski added to the weeks’ entertainment, which included bowling and ice-skating.
On the Tuesday we headed down to New York City, on the way down we stopped off at Woodbury Common an outlet village, to do a little shopping and surprisingly there were a few empty hands by the time we got back onto the coach. Our first night in NYC was spent at Planet Hollywood and then a quick trip into Times Square. The second day we did a little bit of sightseeing heading down to the docks to view the Statue of Liberty and in the afternoon we went up the Empire State Building, to get one of the best views in the world. In between these times some of us walked up 5th Avenue, shopped in Times Square and even got to experience the metro!
This was a great trip and everyone had a great time, hopefully they all have memories that will remain with them for a long time.
