Headmaster’s Weekly Newsletter
19th January 2019
This week’s update is compiled from my study on a Saturday morning with twenty-eight children currently sitting their scholarship examinations for entry into Year 7 in September 2019 from thirteen different junior schools. It is a time of great excitement and anticipation for children, parents and the school to have so many impressive and talented young people considering Quinton House for their next educational journey. The interviews with scholarship candidates are always one of my favourite experiences of the academic year as we discover how the children think and discuss all of their different areas of interest. Next year we are planning to have three forms in both Year 7 and Year 8 as we look to develop our school and respond to the increased levels of interest for places in the senior school.
The music and performing arts auditions take place today and I am delighted that visits to the theatre and live concerts feature so prominently on our school calendar. On Tuesday I have the pleasure of going on a school trip myself, as I take my seat at the Genting Area in Birmingham to see our Junior School singers performing alongside a multitude of other school choirs in the annual Young Voices concert. This is always a fantastic occasion and another highlight of the year.
Young voices were also heard this week in our School Council, Junior Guild and Food Committee meetings. I am grateful to those parents that have already completed the Voice of the Parent survey and I do implore as many parents as possible to complete the survey to provide a full picture of the school and to assist in shaping our Strategic Development Plan. We will then plan a series of meetings for parents to share our exciting vision and plan for the future of the school.
“The one thing that you have that nobody else has is you. Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision.”
