Headmasters Weekly Update 21st June 2019
This has been a week of considerable triumphs and of notable significance to several individuals at the school. The Sixth Form have now completed all of their exams and it seems are now jetting off to sunnier climates in Portugal and Spain for well-deserved rest and relaxation. The fact that they are setting off as a group of lifetime friends from school is pleasing and we wish them well. The GCSE and A Level Art and Photography work has already been on display with the visit of the exam moderator and we do look forward to exhibiting their superb work for all members of the school community to see in next week’s Art and Photography Exhibition. This will be open on Thursday and Friday from 3.15pm to 4.30pm and for a period of time during our Summer Fayre on the Saturday.
Our athletes certainly returned triumphant from this week’s prestigious ISA National Championships. All five athletes that qualified produced personal best times and distances and we came away with three gold medals and one bronze, a wonderful achievement. Special congratulations to Ebuka on becoming National Champion in both the 100m and 200m and Kayden on becoming National Champion in the Shot and winning bronze in the Long Jump. Finlay, Luke and Teniola were equally impressive in their efforts and performances. All will be seen in action at Moulton College on our Sports Day on Friday 5th July.
Pantastic produced a triumphal performance from our Year 6 children in the Junior School Production held in the Courtyard Theatre this week. The impressive quality of the acting and singing produced a most enjoyable and entertaining evening with all members of Year 6 on stage and ably supported by our Year 5 students in the singing. The sound and lighting improvements were greatly appreciated and all involved should be congratulated on the evening.
Senior school students have also been busy this week as our Year 10s have had their first experience of the world of work as they undertook various work experience placements and we look forward to hearing how they fared on their return to school next week. Students in Year 7, 8 and 9 have worked hard all week, taking end of year exams in each subject. I would like to congratulate the efforts and attitudes shown by all.
As I write this, students from Year 5 upwards are beginning to arrive for our House Summer BBQ. With the grounds looking lovely in the sun I am sure this evening will be an opportunity for them to let off steam, enjoy each other’s company and sample the delicious food on offer.
Please do enter our Summer Fayre and Food Festival on Saturday 29th June in your diary. We are looking forward to welcoming our alumni for their reunion at the start of this event. It is sure to be a highlight of the year with activities and entertainment for all, including live music, delicious treats, face painting, balloon modelling and a mini beast display. We hope to see as many of our community there as possible. Please do not miss out on the opportunity to impress by entering The Great Quinton bake off competition, the entry deadline for cakes to be in school is 12pm Friday 28th June, Entry forms are located in reception.
