Reception

‘Outstanding’ Reception Class

Welcome to Quinton House School Reception Class, located at the Lindens in the Junior School. At age 4, children progress into our Reception Class, most children move from Nursery to Reception, but we also welcome new children to the school at this stage. The class is led by a qualified teacher and supported by classroom assistants.

Curriculum

Following the Foundation Stage Curriculum, our Reception Class eases children into a more structured school day, in readiness for Key Stage One. The emphasis on both indoor and outdoor learning continues through the Reception Class with our newly-created outdoor learning space. Throughout their year in Reception, children continue to make progress in their creative and cognitive abilities and develop their numeracy and literacy skills. Specialist PE and music classes are introduced. Children take part in these twice a week.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Weekly yoga, taekwondo, ballet, football, gymnastics and Spanish are offered as extra-curricular options. Download our latest Extra-Curricular Booklet.

School Trips

School trips are an important part of school life and help broaden children’s horizons by offering learning experiences off site. Reception pupils have visited Twycross Zoo, attended the pantomime at the local Royal & Derngate Theatre and also participated in a Junior school trip to Warwick Castle.

Wraparound Care

At Quinton House we offer wraparound care for all pupils. A breakfast club is available for children arriving at school from 8.00am and tea is served at 3.45pm (this incurs a nominal fee). After school club runs until 6.00pm.
