‘Outstanding’ Reception Class
Welcome to Quinton House School Reception Class, located at the Lindens in the Prep School. At age 4, children progress into our Reception Class, most children move from Nursery to Reception, but we also welcome new children to the school at this stage. The class is led by a qualified teacher and supported by classroom assistants.
Following the Foundation Stage Curriculum, our Reception Class eases children into a more structured school day, in readiness for Key Stage One. The emphasis on both indoor and outdoor learning continues through the Reception Class with our newly-created outdoor learning space. Throughout their year in Reception, children continue to make progress in their creative and cognitive abilities and develop their numeracy and literacy skills. Specialist PE and music classes are introduced. Children take part in these twice a week.
Weekly yoga, ballet, football, Spanish, rugby, wellbeing are examples of co-curricular clubs on offer.
School trips are an important part of school life and help broaden children’s horizons by offering learning experiences off site. Reception students have visited Twycross Zoo, attended the pantomime at Royal & Derngate Theatre and also participated in a Prep school trip to Warwick Castle.
At Quinton House we offer wraparound care for all students. A breakfast club is available for children arriving at school from 8.00am and tea is served at 3.45pm (this incurs a nominal fee). After school club runs until 6.00pm.
