Reception Class

The first big step on their academic journey.

Combining a high-quality educational experience with an unparalleled level of care and support, our outstanding Reception Class is the ideal way to ease your child into the exciting world of learning.

In the September after children turn 4, they progress from Nursery into our Reception Class. We also welcome many new children to Quinton at this point. In the Reception Class they continue to follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework and work towards the seventeen Early Learning Goals.

We gradually introduce a more structured school day, allowing for a smooth transition. The Reception Class offers a supportive and fun bridge between Nursery and the more formal educational experience enjoyed from Year 1. Year 1 and 2 are called ‘Key Stage One’ in the national curriculum and Years 3 to 6 are called ‘Key Stage Two’.

Children are invited to our Stay and Learn sessions and transition events to support the transition process, before starting in Reception.

our approach

We place great value on developing the ‘whole’ child.

We like to work in partnership with children and their families to deliver an individualised learning experience that is underpinned by plenty of encouragement and support.

Central to this goal is our focus on firing up the imagination of our students and involving them in every aspect of school life. We offer a varied school experience that balances engaging lessons in our wonderful Reception classroom, with time in our outdoor learning spaces, also home to our Forest School which they attend once a week.

FACILITIES & LOCATION

Our facilities ensure a great learning experience.

Located in a specially converted stable block within the school grounds, our children have an outstanding Reception classroom that is comfortable, well-equipped and imaginative. They also have access to the facilities used by the older students.

Set in beautifully landscaped grounds that include a Reception playground, the children’s education is enhanced by our dedicated outdoor learning space and Forest School, which is set within mature woodland.

Our young students also appreciate the routine of a delicious morning snack, plus a healthy and nutritious lunch which is served by our excellent in-house catering team.

CO-CURRICULAR & CLUBS

We broaden horizons beyond the classroom.

The children have access to numerous co-curricular activities and school trips that are both fun and educational. School trips have ranged from a visit to the Royal & Derngate Theatre to see the Christmas pantomime, to excursions to Twycross Zoo and Warwick Castle.

They can also choose from a wide variety of clubs to join such as ballet, singing, reading, freestyle football, and many more.

For your convenience we also offer wraparound care for all students which is included in the cost of your fees. Mornings start from 8am, afterschool club starts with tea at 3.45pm and concludes at 6pm.

Begin an unforgettable adventure.

Children who join Quinton House develop their confidence and gain a genuine love for learning, putting them on the path to success.
