Headmaster's Weekly Update
This week our Junior School athletes competed in the Junior School ISA Midlands Championships and we are delighted that we now have talented athletes from the Junior and Senior Schools competing in the National Finals at the Alexandra Stadium, Birmingham. Other students on their travels this week included our Year 10 geographers who enjoyed an interesting, if rather wet, day of fieldwork exercises in the Epping Forest. Another group that seems destined for travelling at speed is our newly formed Go-Karting Club. On Facebook this week it was interesting to see so many parents and children stripping down our newly acquired karts in preparation for each to be spray painted in Quinton’s racing colours.
The public examinations continue in earnest and we continue to offer support and best wishes to all students persevering with their revision programmes and demonstrating their knowledge and understanding in each challenging exam. Our Senior School exam week commences in just over one week’s time and all Year 7 to Year 9 students should be working hard in preparation and making full use of their homework time.
On Friday we enjoyed hosting a visit from Council Leader, Jonathan Nunn, and Chief Executive of Northampton Borough Council, George Candler, to discuss potential future developments on the school site. Councillor Nunn is himself a former pupil of Quinton House Junior School and we are very appreciative of his support and assistance with the plans for the school.
D Day has clearly been a theme of national commemoration this week and our Junior School D-Day street party on Monday promises to be a memorable tribute with songs from the period, an active story and each class reciting their prayer for peace. The stories of heroism and bravery that we have heard this week should inspire all of us to ensure that we strive to be the best that we can be, that we work in harmony with each other, and that we work collectively to enjoy success in achieving our objectives. QHS: Quality, Harmony, Success.
Have a great weekend.
