Welcome to Jo Drew – Head of Senior Division
We're pleased to be welcoming Jo Drew to the Quinton House team, who will be taking on the new role of Head of Senior Division.
Jo started her career at Hitchin Girls’ School in Hertfordshire where she taught music and was Head of Year 8. She then lived abroad in the USA for a number of years and upon returning to the UK resumed her teaching career. She was Director of Music at Northwood College and then later appointed as Director of Music at Northampton High School. Most recently Jo was at Thornton College where she taught across both the Prep and Senior School, and now Jo joins us here at Quinton House.
What made you choose a career in education?
A career in education has allowed me to share my passion for music and it has been extremely rewarding to see the impact of music throughout the schools and communities in which I have worked. Teaching has enabled me to encourage young people to fulfil their true potential, not only as musicians but as people.
What are your aims for the Senior School?
I am committed to embracing and developing the ethos at Quinton House School which aims to nurture individuals to achieve their full potential. Helping students to grow, thrive and engage within a fun and stimulating environment, whilst becoming well rounded individuals, will always remain my priority.
What is your life outside work like?
I am a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Musicians which is an organisation based in London dedicated to the performing arts and supporting young musicians. I am passionate about the Arts in all their different formats and enjoy going to concerts, the theatre and art galleries. I am also fascinated by architecture, sculpture and fashion!
What would your message to prospective students be?
Always deal with people in the way that you would like to be treated. Embrace all opportunities and challenges with a positive mindset, good humour and never give up!
